Facebook Marketing For Dummies free ebook download

A lthough in its infancy still, the Facebook advertising platform is per- forming well for thousands of advertisers. The platform's ability to target ad demographics is already legendary, and, because prices are deter- mined by a supply and demand-based bidding system, now is probably the best time to jump in. Ads can be purchased on both a pay for thousand impressions (CPM) or pay for clicks (CPC) basis — at extremely low price points while supply far exceeds demand. Whether marketers are looking to micro-target their audience or reach as broad an audience as possible, there is no better social networking platform for advertising than Facebook. Facebook offers marketers a full range of metrics to measure success via the Web site's internal ad management reports, exportable reports, and the new Facebook Insights dashboard, which lets you collect data on visitors to your Page.

Dopants are no dopes; these atoms pretend to be the crystal's atoms, attempting to bond with the other atoms, but they're just different enough to stir things up a bit. For instance, an atom of arsenic has one more outer electron than an atom of silicon. When you add a small amount of arsenic to a bunch of silicon atoms, each arsenic atom muscles its way in, bonding with the silicon atoms, but leaving its extra electron drifting around through the crystal. Even though the doped material is electrically neutral, it has more free electrons wandering around than undoped silicon – making it much more conductive. By doping the silicon, you change its electrical properties. Another way to dope semiconductors is to use materials such as boron, which has one less outer electron than silicon. For every boron atom you add to a silicon crystal, you get what's known as a hole in the crystalline structure. Now the great thing about holes is that electrons love dropping into them. So an electron falls into the hole, which leaves another hole, and another electron drops into that hole, and so on.

Achieving these newer forms of call control, however, is both complex and costly. For this reason, many companies are opting to design their networks to use their private dedicated transports to support on-net VoIP telephone calls as much as possible. Companies with large multilocation networks that cover the entire country (or even just one or two regions of the country) can design their VoIP networks to route calls destined for other calling areas as far as possible over their private network before going off-net to the PSTN. This type of design optimizes private network use, reduces or eliminates costs incurred with the PSTN, and still provides the QoS benefits of the PSTN. Only in cases where the company has exorbitant local recurring PSTN charges does it make sense to consider changing how calls into the PSTN are con- trolled. When a call must go off-net, converting from the packetized VoIP net- work to the public-switched network is at the very heart of converging the calls.

Many people try to use the Color panel (Window ➪ Color ➪ Color [F6]) to define colors, which can be a mistake. At first, you may not realize that you can create colors from the Color panel. It shows a gradation of the last color used and lets you change the tint for that color on the current object. But if you go to its flyout menu and choose a color model (RGB, CMYK, or Lab), you get a set of mixing controls. So what's the problem? Colors created through the Color panel won't appear in your Swatches panel, so they can't be used for other objects. They're called unnamed colors because they don't appear in the Swatches panel, but may be used by objects in a document, which can cause problems when you print. (Adobe added them to InDesign to be consistent with how Illustrator defines colors — a foolish consistency.)

Droid 2 For Dummies ebook free download

There was no point in finding a home for your phone back when the Telephone Company bolted the thing to the wall. I remember hunting all over the house for our family's first cordless phone. That was a pain when the batteries were dead and the phone's locator-ring trick didn't work. It was even more of a pain when you just knew that the phone was lost in the sofa cushions and Aunt Martha was pulling some zzz's on the couch. Your Droid 2 lives an untethered existence, so find it a permanent spot — even when you're carrying it around.

Bee Keeping For Dummies ebook free download

Bee Keeping For Dummies ebook free download

The honey bee hive is one of the cleanest and most sterile environments found in nature. Preventing disease is an important early task for the worker bee. During the first couple weeks of her life, the worker bee removes any bees that have died and disposes of the corpses as far from the hive as possi- ble. Similarly, diseased or dead brood are quickly removed before becoming a health threat to the colony. Should a larger invader (such as a mouse) be stung to death within the hive, the workers have an effective way of dealing with that situation. Obviously a dead mouse is too big for the bees to carry off. So the workers completely encase the corpse with propolis (a brown sticky resin collected from trees, and sometimes referred to as bee glue). Propolis has significant antibacterial qualities. In the hot, dry air of the hive, the hermetically sealed corpse becomes mummified and is no longer a source of infection. The bees also use propolis to seal cracks and varnish the inside walls of the hive.

Bitcoin For Dummies Ebook free download pdf pdf

Bitcoin For Dummies Ebook free download pdf pdf

The bitcoin price is determined by its users under the free market principle of supply and demand. And although the bitcoin supply is limited to 21 million "coins" in total — to be reached by 2140 — no huge demand exists for this digital currency just yet. As bitcoin matures further over the next few years, that story might change. Why 21 million? Nobody knows. Some believe it's because it's a mathematical equation that brings us to the amount of coins avail- able until the year 2140 with rewards being halved every four years. Keep in mind that bitcoin is a payment method that can be used online and in the real world as well. However, that does not make bitcoin a currency, because it lacks certain aspects of the "ground rules" that determine whether a payment method is a currency or not. But according to most experts around the world, bitcoin is to be considered a digital currency in its truest form. As we try to wrap our hands around this new currency technology, who is to say whether or not that term is correct? What we can say is that bitcoin is a valid payment method for many goods and services, and that is what makes its digital aspect so much fun to explore. By being a decentralized payment method (meaning no govern- ment or official entity controls it), bitcoin lets anyone in the world accept a digital currency payment from anyone else in the world. Bitcoin is the same digital currency across borders, no matter what the country's physical currency, and can be converted into nearly any local currency on request. With no transaction fees to speak of, and being able to receive your payments the next business day, what's not to like? On top of that, mobile payments are on the rise, so bitcoin is an excellent alternative mobile payment method to take your customer base to the next level, at very little cost.

In this context, sparse means that fields in rows can be empty or NULL but that doesn't bring HBase to a screeching halt. HBase can handle the fact that we don't (yet) know Jane Doe's middle name and e-mail address, for example. Here's another example: a database for storing satellite images. It turns out that Google uses BigTable technology to store satellite imagery of the earth. In almost every case, whenever imagery is stored, metadata is also stored with it. The metadata may include the street address of the image or only the latitude and longitude if the image is captured from the wilderness. The meta- data is variable in content so some fields will be NULL — and that's OK. In both examples, the data sets that are collected can be extremely large — especially in the second example. Imagery databases are almost always measured in terabytes or sometimes in petabytes. We've already men- tioned that HBase is designed for storing big data, but it's also designed for storing sparse data records at no cost. This concern is crucial when you're using big data applications! Storing a few NULL records over a million rows is wasteful, but try to imagine the waste over a quadrillion rows! Thankfully, this was a key consideration for Google designers and the HBase community. Sparse data is supported with no waste of costly storage space.

The harder you make it to get store credit and the stricter you make the bill- paying rules, the less chance you have of a taking a loss. However, you may lose customers to a competitor with lighter credit rules. For example, you may require a minimum income level of $50,000 and make customers pay in 30 days if they want to avoid late fees or interest charges. Your sales staff reports that these rules are too rigid because your direct competitor down the street allows credit on a minimum income level of $30,000 and gives cus- tomers 60 days to pay before late fees and interest charges. Now you have to decide whether you want to change your credit rules to match the competi- tion's. But, if you do lower your credit standards to match your competitor, you could end up more customers who can't pay on time or at all because you've qualified customers for credit at lower income levels and given them more time to pay. If you loosen your qualification criteria and bill-paying requirements, you have to carefully monitor your customer accounts to be sure they're not falling behind.

As small as your iPAQ is, it's still large enough to have plenty of hiding places for your files. And just like on your desktop PC, the files you need the most are the ones you probably can't find when you really need them. But those files can't hide forever — especially when you know the secret to finding them. To find those errant files, click the Start button and choose Find to display the Find program. If you know the name of the file, click the down arrow to the right of the Find drop-down list box and use the on-screen keyboard to enter the name. If you want to look for files by type rather than by name, make certain that the Find drop-down list box contains < . . . > so that any filename can be found. The < . . . > simply means that you aren't specifying a filename — it's the equivalent of *.* on your desktop PC. Be sure to delete any name that is currently showing in the Find drop-down list box so that < . . . > appears if you want to find all files of a specific type. To specify the type of file that you want to find, click the down arrow next to the Type drop-down list box, as shown in Figure 3-8. Select the type of file you want and then click Go to begin the search.

Lean in closer, and I'll tell you a secret. (Dramatic pause.) This is one of the few disagreements that I have with my friends at Apple Computer, Inc. Apple once felt that a mouse needed but one button, and until the arrival of the Mighty Mouse on Apple's desktop models, it was the only button you got. And you liked it. And you still do, if you're using a Mac laptop's trackpad. In fact, you don't even need to press the trackpad button to perform magic: If you tap the trackpad quickly, your Mac laptop counts that as a click. Two fast taps act as a double-click. Also, if you move two fingers over the surface of the trackpad at once, the Finder window or application scrolls the contents of the window up or down. (For example, you can use the scroll function to move up and down through the pages of a document or to move up and down through a long Web page.) You can control the sensitivity and opera- tion of your trackpad from the Keyboard & Mouse pane in System
